Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work 'Heart Of The Canyon', Circa 1925 by Frances Hammell Gearhart was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,000.00 (€ 1,507.27). Admittedly, works by Frances Hammell Gearhart have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Austerity in October this year with an auction result of USD 14,720.00 (€ 13,928.84).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit 'Heart Of The Canyon', Circa 1925 von Frances Hammell Gearhart im Dezember 2010 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.000,00 (€ 1.507,27) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frances Hammell Gearhart auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Austerity im Oktober diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 14.720,00 (€ 13.928,84).
