A top price for Francis Barlow - as previously expected

The work An ostrich; and A cassowary by Francis Barlow was sold in the PICTURES AND WATERCOLOURS FROM LONGLEAT auction at Christies in London in June 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 160,650.00 (€ 248,489.17) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, An ostrich; and A cassowary is the most expensive artwork by Francis Barlow that we have observed at auctions so far.
