the complete set of eighty etchings with burnished aquatint, drypoint and engraving, 1810-1820, on wove paper, some with watermark fragments J.G.O. or Palmette, with title-page and biographical essay, good to very good impressions printed in black or dark sepia from the First Edition of five hundred copies (Harris 1b), after the corrections to the titles, published by the Real Academia de Nobles Artes de San Fernando, Madrid, 1863, bound in blue cloth-covered boards, the sheet edges tinted in orange, the binding worn, the front cover detached, the prints in good condition

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Los Desastres de la Guerra by Francisco de Goya was auctioned at Christies in New York in January this year. The price achieved of USD 94,500.00 (€ 87,032.60) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francisco de Goya achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Doña María Vicenta Barruso Valdés, seated on a sofa with a lap-dog; and Portrait of her mother Doña Leonora Antonia Valdés de Barruso, seated on a chair holding a fan in January this year with an auction result of USD 16,420,000.00 (€ 15,122,490.33).

Die Arbeit Los Desastres de la Guerra von Francisco de Goya kam im Januar diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 94.500,00 (€ 87.032,60) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francisco de Goya erzielen.
