inscribed with the legend 'These are my portraits--I have the face of a dog, face of a cat, face of a pig, face of a coyote, face of an owl, an insect, a turtle, a monkey an old man. Also like a mask. Though they do not resemble me they are my portraits.' (in Zapotec below the eight masks)

Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2019 Christies in New York held the auction Latin American Art, which included the work Máscaras 1-8, Políptico by Francisco Toledo. The price achieved of USD 52,500.00 (€ 47,644.98) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francisco Toledo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Meu Xubi in November 2019 with an auction result of USD 1,040,000.00 (€ 943,824.30).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Latin American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Máscaras 1-8, Políptico von Francisco Toledo zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 52.500,00 (€ 47.644,98) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francisco Toledo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Meu Xubi im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.040.000,00 (€ 943.824,30).
