Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price

When the work Mûle d'Hydra, pièce unique by François-Xavier Lalanne was auctioned at Sothebys in Paris in November 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at - in retrospect quite modest - EUR 60,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at EUR 252,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by François-Xavier Lalanne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'RHINOCRÉTAIRE I', PIÈCE UNIQUE, 1964 in October this year with an auction result of EUR 18,335,000.00.

Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert

Als die Arbeit Mûle d'Hydra, pièce unique von François-Xavier Lalanne im November 2021 bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – EUR 60.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit EUR 252.000,00 mehr als viermal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von François-Xavier Lalanne erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit 'RHINOCRÉTAIRE I', PIÈCE UNIQUE, 1964 im Oktober diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 18.335.000,00.
