Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2007 Christies in London held the auction Important Old Master Paintings From The Collection of Jacques Goudstikker, which included the work Portrait of a bearded gentleman, bust-length, in a black doublet with a white lace ruff, painted oval by Frans Pourbus the Elder. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 26,400.00 (€ 39,210.09) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frans Pourbus the Elder achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a young woman, aged 17, holding a small spaniel wearing a collar of bells in January 2021 with an auction result of USD 478,800.00 (€ 394,561.19).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Important Old Master Paintings From The Collection of Jacques Goudstikker durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a bearded gentleman, bust-length, in a black doublet with a white lace ruff, painted oval von Frans Pourbus the Elder zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 26.400,00 (€ 39.210,09) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Frans Pourbus the Elder erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of a young woman, aged 17, holding a small spaniel wearing a collar of bells im Januar 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 478.800,00 (€ 394.561,19).
