Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Finding of Erichthonius by the Daughters of Cecrops by Frans Wouters was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2002, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,975.00 (€ 6,046.96). Admittedly, works by Frans Wouters have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Three Graces in April 2002 with an auction result of GBP 18,800.00 (€ 30,417.91).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Finding of Erichthonius by the Daughters of Cecrops von Frans Wouters im Oktober 2002 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.975,00 (€ 6.046,96) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frans Wouters auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Three Graces im April 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 18.800,00 (€ 30.417,91).
