Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Austriana Vase Of Camellias, Geraniums, Dahlias, A White Peony, Roses, Poppies And Other Flowers, With Fruit On A Stone Ledge by Franz Xaver Petter was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Sothebys in New York in November 2011. The price achieved of USD 62,500.00 (€ 46,458.04) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Franz Xaver Petter - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Roses, parrot tulips, an iris, daffodils, peonies, morning-glory and other flowers with a Red Admiral, a bee and other insects in a sculpted urn with peaches and grapes on a marble ledge, which sold at auction in July 2014 for GBP 104,500.00 (€ 131,807.36).
