In March 2001 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PAINTINGS, which included the work Sheep and cattle resting in the shade by Frederick E. Valter. The price achieved of GBP 1,292.50 (€ 2,085.58) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Sheep and cattle resting in the shade is the most expensive artwork by Frederick E. Valter that we have observed at auctions so far.
