Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2009 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work A peaceful day's fishing by George Augustus Williams. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,266.37) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by George Augustus Williams have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Snowball Fight in April 2005 with an auction result of USD 12,000.00 (€ 9,288.64).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2009 führte Christies in London die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch die Arbeit A peaceful day's fishing von George Augustus Williams zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.125,00 (€ 1.266,37) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Augustus Williams auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Snowball Fight im April 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 12.000,00 (€ 9.288,64).
