This artwork by George Chinnery achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2020. In the Topographical Pictures, including China Trade Paintings. ARCTIC · AMERICAS · AFRICA · ASIA · AUSTRALASIA · ANTARCTICA auction, the work Sketches Of A Tanka Boat Girl And Chinese Figures sold for GBP 5,250.00 (€ 5,860.77) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Chinnery achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Reeves Macao Album, 1836-1837 in July 2006 with an auction result of GBP 332,800.00 (€ 487,180.19).
