In December 2012 Sothebys in London held the auction The Art of Illustration - From the Collection of Michael Winner, which included the work "A Bank Holiday. Whitby" by George du Maurier. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,375.00 (€ 1,695.76), 53% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by George du Maurier have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 'Two Thrones' in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 8,812.50 (€ 14,403.68).

Im Dezember 2012 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion The Art of Illustration - From the Collection of Michael Winner durch, in der auch die Arbeit "A Bank Holiday. Whitby" von George du Maurier zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.375,00 (€ 1.695,76) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George du Maurier auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 'Two Thrones' im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.812,50 (€ 14.403,68).
