Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Spoilt For The Market by George Ernest Studdy was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,448.25). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Ernest Studdy - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'My Mistake!', which sold at auction in December 2003 for GBP 2,232.50 (€ 3,162.04).

Als die Arbeit Spoilt For The Market von George Ernest Studdy im Dezember 2014 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.200,00 – 1.800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.125,00 (€ 1.448,25) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von George Ernest Studdy mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit 'My Mistake!' beobachtet, die im Dezember 2003 für GBP 2.232,50 (€ 3.162,04) versteigert wurde.
