Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Fire, Study For The Carlton House Terrace Fresco, The Elements by George Frederick Watts was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2019. The price achieved of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 13,724.17) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Frederick Watts achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hope in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 773,750.00 (€ 1,285,352.70).
