In September 2003 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Pictures, which included the work Study for The Gander by George Heming Mason. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 763.75 (€ 769.30), 53% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Heming Mason achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Drinking Fountain in the Campagna in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 8,365.00 (€ 12,212.64).

Im September 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Study for The Gander von George Heming Mason zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 763,75 (€ 769,30) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Heming Mason erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Drinking Fountain in the Campagna im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.365,00 (€ 12.212,64).
