Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Oh by George McNeil was sold in the Interiors auction at Christies in New York in April 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 5,250.00 (€ 4,703.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George McNeil - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Holiday, which sold at auction in January 2008 for USD 27,400.00 (€ 18,462.37).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Oh von George McNeil wurde im April 2015 in der Auktion Interiors bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 5.250,00 (€ 4.703,46) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von George McNeil mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Holiday beobachtet, die im Januar 2008 für USD 27.400,00 (€ 18.462,37) versteigert wurde.
