Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of Mrs Mary Moody (C. 1767-1820), Wife Of Samuel Moody, Three-Quarter-Length, In A Landscape by George Romney was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2019. It changed hands for a price of USD 75,000.00 (€ 67,270.61) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Romney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Edward Wortley Montagu (1713–1776) in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 4,002,500.00 (€ 5,048,410.94).
