Auction result well in line with expectations

In November 2004 Christies in London held the auction British Pictures 1500-1850, which included the work A View Of Lowestoft Lighthouse, With Figures In The Foreground And The Stanford Channel Beyond by George Vincent. The price achieved of GBP 4,780.00 (€ 6,876.00) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Vincent - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work View of The Needles, Isle of Wight, From Christchurch, which sold at auction in June 2006 for GBP 16,800.00 (€ 24,309.32).
