The »bidding war« ended at EUR 1,750.00 17% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Georges Rochegrosse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work French The Chattering Birds in October 2008 with an auction result of USD 170,500.00 (€ 134,442.52).
