Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%

This artwork by Gerald Scarfe achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2019. In the Scarfe at Sotheby’s: Sixty Years of Being Rude auction, the work "Famous Old Bag" sold for GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,728.24) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Gerald Scarfe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Churchill In The House Of Commons in April 2017 with an auction result of GBP 118,750.00 (€ 141,017.67).

Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen

Dieses Kunstwerk von Gerald Scarfe erzielte im Dezember 2019 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Scarfe at Sotheby’s: Sixty Years of Being Rude wurde die Arbeit "Famous Old Bag" für GBP 15.000,00 (€ 17.728,24) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 6.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gerald Scarfe auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Churchill In The House Of Commons im April 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 118.750,00 (€ 141.017,67).
