Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2013 a collector was able to acquire the work A Young Girl At A Window Ledge With A Cat And A Mouse-Trap, A Hung Duck And A Pewter Ewer Beside Her by Gerrit Dou for GBP 146,500.00 (€ 167,401.78). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 150,000.00 – 200,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gerrit Dou achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Elderly Woman, Seated By A Window At Her Spinning Wheel, Eating Porridge in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 5,346,500.00 (€ 3,898,286.55).

Im Juli 2013 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit A Young Girl At A Window Ledge With A Cat And A Mouse-Trap, A Hung Duck And A Pewter Ewer Beside Her von Gerrit Dou für GBP 146.500,00 (€ 167.401,78) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale bei Sothebys in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 150.000,00 – 200.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gerrit Dou erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit An Elderly Woman, Seated By A Window At Her Spinning Wheel, Eating Porridge im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.346.500,00 (€ 3.898.286,55).
