Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A lady in white dress with fichu and fur-bordered lilac-coloured surcoat, a lace cap tied under her chin by Gervase Spencer was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2005. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 420.00 (€ 622.47) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gervase Spencer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of A Young Boy, Circa 1750 in May 2020 with an auction result of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,632.01).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 420,00 (€ 622,47) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
