In September 2016 Christies in New York held the auction South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art, which included the work Wanderer above the Sea by Gigi Scaria. The »bidding war« ended at USD 20,000.00 (€ 17,796.76), 33% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gigi Scaria - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Someone Left a Horse on the Shore, which sold at auction in November 2007 for HKD 487,500.00 (€ 42,616.42).

Im September 2016 führte Christies in New York die Auktion South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Wanderer above the Sea von Gigi Scaria zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 20.000,00 (€ 17.796,76) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Gigi Scaria mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Someone Left a Horse on the Shore beobachtet, die im November 2007 für HKD 487.500,00 (€ 42.616,42) versteigert wurde.
