Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2019 a collector was able to acquire the work Saint John The Evangelist On Patmos by Gillis Mostaert for USD 12,500.00 (€ 11,211.77). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Paintings and Sculpture at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gillis Mostaert achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A village kermesse in July 2003 with an auction result of GBP 184,450.00 (€ 241,088.59).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Mai 2019 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Saint John The Evangelist On Patmos von Gillis Mostaert für USD 12.500,00 (€ 11.211,77) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Old Master Paintings and Sculpture bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gillis Mostaert erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A village kermesse im Juli 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 184.450,00 (€ 241.088,59).
