Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2014 Christies in New York held the auction Renaissance, which included the work The Pietà by Giorgio Vasari. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 341,000.00 (€ 252,592.59) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giorgio Vasari - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Pietà, which sold at auction in January 2000 for USD 574,500.00 (€ 588,808.04).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2014 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Renaissance durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Pietà von Giorgio Vasari zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 300.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 341.000,00 (€ 252.592,59) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Giorgio Vasari mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Pietà beobachtet, die im Januar 2000 für USD 574.500,00 (€ 588.808,04) versteigert wurde.
