woodcut, 1544, on laid paper, watermark Crossbow with countermark GS (Briquet 730, dated circa 1590), a good but later impression of this rare print, Hollstein's second, final state, with the large gap in the borderline at right, some smaller gaps in the borderline filled in with pen and ink, trimmed to or just outside the borderline, some staining and surface dirt, a few pinpoint foxmarks, generally in good condition

In the Old Master Prints auction, the work The Bewitched Groom sold for USD 13,750.00 (€ 12,738.56) - well above the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hans Baldung achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Holy Family With Five Angels in July 2018 with an auction result of GBP 2,860,000.00 (€ 3,206,688.88).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Hans Baldung erzielte im Januar 2017 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master Prints wurde die Arbeit The Bewitched Groom für USD 13.750,00 (€ 12.738,56) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 7.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Hans Baldung erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Holy Family With Five Angels im Juli 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.860.000,00 (€ 3.206.688,88).
