Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work German Frühlingsmelodie (Spring Melody) by Hans Thoma was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 17,500.00 (€ 21,508.06). Admittedly, works by Hans Thoma have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Blick auf Mamolsheim in December 2010 with an auction result of GBP 139,250.00 (€ 161,529.58).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit German Frühlingsmelodie (Spring Melody) von Hans Thoma im Mai 2014 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 17.500,00 (€ 21.508,06) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hans Thoma auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Blick auf Mamolsheim im Dezember 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 139.250,00 (€ 161.529,58).
