A top price for Heinrich Aldegrever
In January 2000 Christies in New York held the auction Important Old Master Drawings, which included the work Lazarus begging for Crumbs from Dives's Table (Luke 16:19-31) by Heinrich Aldegrever. Here, the upper estimate of USD 150,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 156,500.00 (€ 160,397.66). With this result, Lazarus begging for Crumbs from Dives's Table (Luke 16:19-31) is even the most expensive work of art by Heinrich Aldegrever that we have observed at auctions so far.
