Auction result well in line with expectations

In December last year Bonhams held the auction The Gift of Photographs, which included the work Irène & Frédéric Joliot-Curie, Paris by Henri Cartier-Bresson. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,040.00 (€ 1,906.90) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henri Cartier-Bresson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work On the Banks of the Marne, France in April 2017 with an auction result of USD 212,500.00 (€ 195,043.60).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Im Dezember letzten Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion The Gift of Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Irène & Frédéric Joliot-Curie, Paris von Henri Cartier-Bresson zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.040,00 (€ 1.906,90) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Henri Cartier-Bresson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit On the Banks of the Marne, France im April 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 212.500,00 (€ 195.043,60).
