This artwork by Henri Matisse achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in February this year. In the Matisse on Paper: Prints & Drawings from the Matisse Family Collections, Online auction, the work Nu allongé aux babouches de paille tressée sold for USD 13,860.00 (€ 13,073.01) - well above the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henri Matisse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Odalisque couchée aux magnolias in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 80,750,000.00 (€ 69,194,515.85).

Oberer Schätzpreis um 98 % übertroffen

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Henri Matisse erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Odalisque couchée aux magnolias im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 80.750.000,00 (€ 69.194.515,85).
