The result of USD 30,000.00 (€ 25,757.71) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henri Matisse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Odalisque couchée aux magnolias in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 80,750,000.00 (€ 69,194,515.85).

Die Arbeit Odalisque von Henri Matisse wurde im Oktober 2020 in der Auktion Matisse on Paper: Prints & Drawings from the Estate of Jacquelyn Miller Matisse bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 30.000,00 (€ 25.757,71) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Henri Matisse erzielen.
