Auction result well in line with expectations

In September 2000 Christies in London held the auction THE MANOR HOUSE AT CLIFTON HAMPDEN,HOME OF CHRISTOPHER GIBBS, which included the work Lady Ashburnham's pet dog 'Fan', with a ball on a terrace by Henry Calvert. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,997.50 (€ 3,342.43) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,000.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henry Calvert achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Three Hunters In An Extensive Landscape in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 31,200.00 (€ 46,332.98).
