Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In July 2011 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours, which included the work An extensive view of Thebes, Greece by Hugh William Williams. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 34,850.00 (€ 39,995.59), 16% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Hugh William Williams have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An extensive view of the Acropolis and Athens, Greece, with the Herodeion Atticon below in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 157,250.00 (€ 180,467.90).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juli 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit An extensive view of Thebes, Greece von Hugh William Williams zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 34.850,00 (€ 39.995,59) und damit 16% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hugh William Williams auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit An extensive view of the Acropolis and Athens, Greece, with the Herodeion Atticon below im Juli 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 157.250,00 (€ 180.467,90).
