Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study for 'A Parisian Café': Gentleman standing and Jean-Léon Gérôme (1824-1904) by Ilya Repin was sold in the Russian Art auction at Christies in London in June 2017. The price achieved of GBP 37,500.00 (€ 42,705.50) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ilya Repin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Parisian Café in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 4,521,250.00 (€ 5,001,922.73).
