Auction result well in line with expectations
In March this year Sothebys in Paris held the auction Collection Monsieur et Madame Robert Schmit, Part II, which included the work Le lion fabuleux by Jacques Villon. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 20,000 - 30,000, the actual price achieved of EUR 21,420 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacques Villon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work L'Acrobate in May 2016 with an auction result of USD 1,025,000 (€ 920,521).
