Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Robert Kerss, Gamekeeper and Fisherman at Monteviot by James Archer was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 9,450.00 (€ 11,095.19). Admittedly, works by James Archer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Betrothal of Robert Burns and Highland Mary in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 74,090.00 (€ 108,169.06).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Robert Kerss, Gamekeeper and Fisherman at Monteviot von James Archer im November 2021 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 9.450,00 (€ 11.095,19) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Archer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Betrothal of Robert Burns and Highland Mary im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 74.090,00 (€ 108.169,06).
