This artwork by James Francis Danby achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2012. In the Old Master Paintings Part II auction, the work Sunset at sea after a storm sold for USD 25,000.00 (€ 19,152.69) - well above the upper estimate of USD 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Francis Danby - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Rescue, which sold at auction in February 2003 for GBP 31,070.00 (€ 45,361.22).

Dieses Kunstwerk von James Francis Danby erzielte im Januar 2012 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master Paintings Part II wurde die Arbeit Sunset at sea after a storm für USD 25.000,00 (€ 19.152,69) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 12.000,00.
