Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by James Northcote could be acquired at Christies in London in February 2007 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British & Continental Watercolours auction, the work Dr Fackenham, Dean of St. Paul's, trying by argument to convert Lady Jane Grey to the Romish faith changed hands for GBP 108.00 (€ 160.11) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 200.00 – 400.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Northcote achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Admiral William Waldegrave, 1St Baron Radstock (1753-1825) in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 46,100.00 (€ 64,551.93).
