In November 2002 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction OLD MASTER PICTURES, which included the work Portrait of a young boy, seated full-length, with a sheep, on a rock, a wooded landscape beyond by Jan de Baen. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 41,825.00 67% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jan de Baen; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait of a man standing before a desk and curtain, three-quarter length; Portrait of a woman seated before a landscape and curtain sold at auction in May last year with the realized price of USD 69,300.00 (€ 64,579.26).

Im November 2002 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion OLD MASTER PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a young boy, seated full-length, with a sheep, on a rock, a wooded landscape beyond von Jan de Baen zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 41.825,00 und damit 67% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Jan de Baen; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Portrait of a man standing before a desk and curtain, three-quarter length; Portrait of a woman seated before a landscape and curtain im Mai letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 69.300,00 (€ 64.579,26).
