Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work An angel kneeling in adoration by Jean Restout II was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2000, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 700.00 – 1,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 646.25 (€ 692.81). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Restout II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hector Taking Leave Of Andromache in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 314,500.00 (€ 229,310.97).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit An angel kneeling in adoration von Jean Restout II im Mai 2000 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 700,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 646,25 (€ 692,81) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean Restout II erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Hector Taking Leave Of Andromache im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 314.500,00 (€ 229.310,97).
