Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2001 a collector was able to acquire the work Saint Benedict in the desert by Jean Restout II for USD 822.50 (€ 972.80). This price was achieved in the auction OLD MASTER PAINTINGS, DRAWINGS AND FRAMES at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Restout II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hector Taking Leave Of Andromache in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 314,500.00 (€ 229,310.97).

Im Mai 2001 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Saint Benedict in the desert von Jean Restout II für USD 822,50 (€ 972,80) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion OLD MASTER PAINTINGS, DRAWINGS AND FRAMES bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean Restout II erzielen.
