Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work French the Peeping Roofers And The Woman'S Bath by Jehan-Georges Vibert was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 185,000.00 (€ 135,969.43). Admittedly, works by Jehan-Georges Vibert have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work French Gulliver And The Lilliputians in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 1,497,000.00 (€ 961,587.87).
