This artwork by Jehangir Sabavala achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2007. In the Indian Art including Miniatures and Modern Paintings auction, the work The Four Milk-Maids sold for USD 114,000.00 (€ 85,240.02) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jehangir Sabavala achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Embarkation in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,590,000.00 (€ 1,373,412.80).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 90 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jehangir Sabavala erzielte im März 2007 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Indian Art including Miniatures and Modern Paintings wurde die Arbeit The Four Milk-Maids für USD 114.000,00 (€ 85.240,02) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 60.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jehangir Sabavala erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Embarkation im September 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.590.000,00 (€ 1.373.412,80).
