Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2002 Christies in London held the auction OLD MASTER PICTURES AND DRAWINGS, which included the work A coastal landscape with figures by classical ruins, a port beyond by Johann Franciscus Ermels. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,812.50 (€ 13,527.63) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Johann Franciscus Ermels have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in December 2003 the work A wooded landscape with travellers resting amongst classical ruins was auctioned for GBP 11,950.00 (€ 16,925.61).

Im Dezember 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion OLD MASTER PICTURES AND DRAWINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit A coastal landscape with figures by classical ruins, a port beyond von Johann Franciscus Ermels zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 8.812,50 (€ 13.527,63) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Andere Arbeiten von Johann Franciscus Ermels konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im Dezember 2003 die Arbeit A wooded landscape with travellers resting amongst classical ruins für GBP 11.950,00 (€ 16.925,61) versteigert.
