Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Scarborough from the seats near The Grand Hotel by John Atkinson Grimshaw was sold in the 19th Century and British Impressionist Art auction at Bonhams in London in March 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 87,750.00 (€ 103,083.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Atkinson Grimshaw have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Liverpool Custom House And Wapping in December 2006 with an auction result of GBP 612,800.00 (€ 909,471.91).
