Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2020 Christies in London held the auction The Joe Setton Collection: from Pre-Raphaelites to Last Romantics, which included the work The Queen of Spades by Byam Shaw. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 225,000.00 (€ 251,345.05) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Byam Shaw - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Queen of Hearts, which sold at auction in December 2020 for GBP 790,500.00 (€ 883,058.95).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Christies in London die Auktion The Joe Setton Collection: from Pre-Raphaelites to Last Romantics durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Queen of Spades von Byam Shaw zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 225.000,00 (€ 251.345,05) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Byam Shaw mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Queen of Hearts beobachtet, die im Dezember 2020 für GBP 790.500,00 (€ 883.058,95) versteigert wurde.
