Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sans Titre - 1957 by John Christoforou was sold in the Post-War & Contemporary Art auction at Artcurial in April 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 3,500.00 – 4,500.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 3,640.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Christoforou have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Panique, 1973 in June 2009 with an auction result of EUR 15,990.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Sans Titre - 1957 von John Christoforou wurde im April 2016 in der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art bei Artcurial versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 3.500,00 – 4.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 3.640,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Christoforou auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Panique, 1973 im Juni 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 15.990,00.
