Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Ruined Cottages And Trees; Rooftops At Hampstead; The Deserted Cottage; And Chequered Landscape by John Christopherson was worth GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,547.81) to a buyer in December 2007. This price was achieved in the auction British, Continental & Russian Pictures at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 600.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Christopherson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Moonlit Grove 2 55 x 43cm (21 5/8 x 16 15/16in) unframed sold at auction in April this year with the realized price of GBP 3,187.50 (€ 3,632.71).
