Sold at the upper estimate price
In July 2020 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters Paintings & Sculpture, which included the work Willy Lott’s cottage with a rainbow by John Constable. The auction ended at the price of GBP 150,000.00 (€ 167,313.57), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Constable achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View on the Stour near Dedham, full-scale sketch in June 2016 with an auction result of GBP 14,082,500.00 (€ 16,903,595.45).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Juli 2020 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Masters Paintings & Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Willy Lott’s cottage with a rainbow von John Constable zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 150.000,00 (€ 167.313,57) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 100.000,00 – 150.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Constable erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit View on the Stour near Dedham, full-scale sketch im Juni 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 14.082.500,00 (€ 16.903.595,45).
