In November 2015 Christies in London held the auction Modern British and Irish Art Day Sale, which included the work Self-Portrait by John Craxton. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 64,900.00 (€ 92,440.41), 30% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Craxton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Summer Triptych (Boy on Wall, Girl on the Seashore, Goat and Tree) in June this year with an auction result of GBP 343,300.00 (€ 399,542.10).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 30 % übertroffen
Im November 2015 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern British and Irish Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Self-Portrait von John Craxton zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 64.900,00 (€ 92.440,41) und damit 30% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Craxton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Summer Triptych (Boy on Wall, Girl on the Seashore, Goat and Tree) im Juni diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 343.300,00 (€ 399.542,10).
